The South Florida Humidity Problem Nobody Mentions
Corrugated board loses a significant portion of its compression strength as it absorbs moisture from the air. In a climate that regularly sits above 70% relative humidity for months at a time, a box specified for a dry warehouse behaves differently in a Hallandale Beach storage unit.
What that looks like in practice: stacked cartons at the bottom of a pallet start to bow. Folding cartons lose their crispness at the score lines and the panels no longer sit square. Uncoated print surfaces feel soft. Glue seams weaken. Heavier board or a higher flute grade. Where a B-flute would do in a dry climate, we often specify a heavier caliper for the same box in South Florida, so the safety margin absorbs the seasonal strength loss.
Full lamination rather than aqueous coating alone. A gloss or matte laminate film seals the printed face against moisture ingress. Aqueous coating is cheaper but far less protective in this climate, and it is where most cost-cutting suppliers save money without telling you.
Moisture-resistant coatings on kraft. Uncoated kraft looks right for a natural brand, but it drinks moisture. A clear moisture-resistant coating keeps the raw appearance and removes the risk.

Printing and Finishing
Full-colour CMYK, CMYK plus one PMS colour, or CMYK plus two PMS colours, with Pantone matching when your brand colour has to hold exactly across reorders. Offset for volume, digital for shorter and seasonal runs.
Finishing: gloss and matte lamination, gloss AQ, gloss and matte UV, spot UV, embossing, debossing, and foil stamping. Die cutting, gluing, scoring, and perforation are included, not billed separately.
A practical recommendation for this market: soft-touch or matte lamination outperforms gloss in humid coastal conditions. Gloss shows every fingerprint, and in a beachfront retail environment where products are handled with sunscreen on, that is visible within a day on the shelf.
